The story behind Topper Calculator and the team that built it for students across India.
I'm Ajay Kumar, a digital marketing expert from Bathinda, Punjab, with 5 years of experience. My passion for solving real-world problems through technology has led me to create the Topper Calculator, a tool designed to simplify students' academic lives.
My mission is to develop innovative and time-saving tools that reduce stress and help students, parents, and professionals to stay updated and focused.
As a student, I faced a frustrating challenge: tracking attendance to meet the mandatory 75% requirement, especially during college. Calculating my attendance percentage was easy, but determining how many classes I needed to attend to stay above the required percentage rate was confusing and complicated.
This struggle wasn't unique to me, as several other students faced the same issue: calculating how many classes they could safely miss or need to attend.
Determined to address this, I partnered with my friend Krishan Suthar, a skilled coder, to develop a solution. After exploring existing online tools, I found they were too complex or failed to calculate the number of classes needed to meet attendance goals.
This gap inspired me to create the Topper Calculator, my first major project, which took around 5 months of dedicated effort from idea to final launch.
The Topper Calculator is an innovative, user-friendly tool that calculates your attendance percentage and tells you exactly how many classes you need to attend to meet the required percentage. Designed with students in mind, it's fast, free, and easy to use, saving you from the stress of manual calculations.
There was another problem that really meant a lot to me. Since childhood, my best friend Ranbir has been away from me because of an attendance problem. We had been studying together since the 5th standard. We had promised each other that we would be together throughout our lives.
But when we entered 12th grade, everything changed. His attendance fell short of the 75% attendance requirement by just two classes. Due to this, he wasn't allowed to sit for his board exams. This gap broke our dream of studying together.
So this was another reason why I built this Topper Calculator — not just to calculate attendance, but to prevent regrets, give clarity, and help students take control before it's too late.
